KiCad Library Engineering Intern
Position Details
- Part-time (20 hours per week)
- Three-month duration
- Hybrid work arrangement preferred
Vernier Science Education is looking for an engineering college student or recent graduate to help us build and organize our KiCad component library. You'll work alongside electrical, PCB, and mechanical engineers to create the symbols, footprints, and 3D models that support future product development.
This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with electronics design tools, engineering workflows, and product development while making a lasting impact on our engineering team.
What You'll Do
- Create and maintain component libraries in KiCad
- Build schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and 3D component models
- Organize components using Vernier's part numbering and engineering standards
- Work with engineers across multiple disciplines to ensure components are accurate and ready for manufacturing
- Help document best practices and library guidelines
What We're Looking For
- Current college student or recent graduate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Interest in electronics, PCB design, or CAD tools
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Ability to learn new tools and work independently
Bonus Skills
- Experience with KiCad, Altium, Eagle, or other ECAD software
- Familiarity with electronics components and datasheets
- Experience with CAD or 3D modeling tools
You'll leave this internship with practical engineering experience, exposure to professional design workflows, and the satisfaction of building tools that will be used across future Vernier products.
