Are you a hands-on operator looking for a role where no two days are the same? Join our dedicated team at Veolia Water New Zealand and play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality water and wastewater services to communities across the southern Ruapehu District.
Based in Ohakune, you'll be responsible for the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants and networks across Ohakune, Raetihi, Rangataua, National Park, Whakapapa and Waiouru.

What you'll be responsible for
What You'll Be Doing
Operating and maintaining water and wastewater treatment plants in accordance with resource consent conditions and regulatory requirements
Monitoring and maintaining water, wastewater and stormwater networks across the southern Ruapehu District
Providing first response to network breakdowns, water leaks and wastewater blockages
Completing real-time administration via tablet to ensure KPI compliance
Participating in the after-hours on-call roster
Contributing to Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental Management Systems
Building strong relationships with colleagues, clients and customers
What you'll need to be successful
Qualifications
A qualification in a water discipline (e.g. National Certificate in Water Treatment) is preferred OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Willingness to work towards relevant qualifications is highly regarded
Experience
Previous experience in water and/or wastewater treatment is advantageous
Background in service delivery, trades or network operations will be well regarded
Skills & Attributes
A practical, hands-on problem solver
Strong ability to work autonomously with a high degree of initiative
Excellent communication skills across all levels
Accurate record-keeping skills, particularly in a digital environment
Adaptable, reliable and able to perform under pressure
Computer literate with a current driver's licence (Class 2 preferred)
Willingness to work outside of standard hours when required
