Department Summary
The G. Brint Ryan College of Business is the choice of nearly 9,000 students, making it one of the largest business schools in the nation. Position Overview
This position is responsible for providing counseling to students by appraising their interests, aptitudes, and abilities to develop a career path and degree fit. This role typically provides supervision to lower-level staff directly or on a project basis but may serve as an expert or point of escalation for more complex projects or issues. Counsels students on academic pursuits through the completion of a degree program; connects students with available resources for academic success and personal/professional development; researches, evaluates, and delivers presentations on services provided. This position is responsible for creating and implementing programs related to student success and retention.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree and four years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, professional academic advising, or related experience.

Job Duties
A. Maintain effective use of counseling techniques and student development theory for implementation in individual advising sessions and in the construction and implementation of advising programs; B. Maintain and communicate accurate knowledge of University policies and procedures and counsel accordingly. C. Maintain and communicate accurate knowledge of RCoB policies and procedures, and counsel accordingly. D. Maintain and communicate accurate and up-to-date university resources, and refer accordingly. E. Maintain and communicate accurate knowledge on course applicability procedures
Assist in planning programs for enrollment growth. Create and implement more complex outreach to BS/MS related to ACCT student success.
Establish working relationships with Undergraduate and Master Advisors/Counselors.
Prepare graduation reports for the Department Chair and maintain current MS student profile records.
Support the recruitment of BS/MS Accounting students.
Develop, coordinate, and support student success programs and initiatives for accounting students.
Advise prospective and current BS Accounting students, as well as newly admitted and current MS Taxation and MS Accounting students. This includes advising BBA students interested in transferring to the BS Accounting program or applying to an Accounting master's program.
Collaborate closely with the RCoB Graduate Programs Office (GPO) to provide coordinated advising for all Accounting graduate students and assist with admissions-related student cases.
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the application and admissions process for students applying to MS programs, providing accurate guidance and support throughout the application cycle.
Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with the Undergraduate Programs Office (UPO) to support BS Accounting and BBA Accounting student populations as appropriate.
Maintain and communicate current knowledge of University, RCoB, and departmental policies, procedures, and resources, providing accurate guidance and referrals to students as needed.
Partner with the Wilson Jones Career Center Graduate Career Coach to support students throughout the internship process, including employer networking, internship orientation, and enrollment in internship courses.
Plan, coordinate, and facilitate new student orientation for the MS Taxation and MS Accounting programs during the fall and spring semesters.
Supervise and support student workers.
