Job DetailsJob Location: LA - San Pedro, CA 90731Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: 4 Year DegreeSalary Range: $1.00 - $1.00 SalaryMaintain vessel availability by minimizing unscheduled out-of-service time. Troubleshoot and diagnose routine repair and unique problems preventing vessel readiness and safety. Develop solutions, assign resources, manage costs and analyze trends. Perform all duties consistent with the requirements of the Operating Company and Safety Management System (SMS).
Supervise maintenance and repair to optimize vessel availability while protecting asset value Plan and execute complex shipyard and major maintenance projects Ensure vessel regulatory compliance Document actions to support regulatory and institutional requirements Set and monitor vessel operating budgets Prioritize and promote safe work practices Follow all company policies and procedures
QualificationsQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
B.S. Marine Engineering, Maritime Academy Graduate, or 10 years in a related field. Seagoing experience is preferred but not required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and fluid vessel systems Able to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair vessel systems of all types Skilled in project management, planning, control, review and cost projection/variance analysis skills Able to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and projects Working knowledge of software tools such as MS Office suite, CMMS, ERP and similar administrative applications Knowledge and understanding of ABS requirements and protocols relating to company vessels Knowledge and understanding of USCG regulations and requirements concerning company vessels Knowledge and ability to learn and understand Regional and State regulations and reporting requirements regarding air quality management and pollution prevention for assigned vessels’ area of operation Able to climb ladders including within cargo and ballast tanks under environmental extremes of heat or cold Able to board vessels at anchor Able to travel coast wide in support of California Operations as needed for scheduled and unscheduled vessel inspections and repairs Able to remain accessible for communication and consultation on an around-the-clock basis Able to periodically work unusual hours including nights and weekends as required for successful project completion Skilled in written and verbal communications at all organizational levels in a clear and concise manner Able to work independently, self-motivated and organized
