The Audio Engineer will mix daily and weekly shows and lead show-specific workflows for the newsroom's audio and video podcast portfolio. They will also provide technical support for studio systems and contribute original music compositions across projects.
Candidates must have over 5 years of audio engineering experience, preferably in a podcast or broadcast environment, with strong proficiency in Pro Tools and iZotope RX. Knowledge of loudness standards, video mixing, and media asset management is required.

The New York Times is seeking an Audio Engineer to work across all current and future products in the Newsroom audio and video podcast portfolio. You will play a crucial role in our post-production processes, and play a significant role in the ongoing development of audio best-practices and video integration by working closely with the audio engineering team, show producers and editors, as well as New York Times reporters and contributors.
You will be the main point of contact for one or more shows. The right candidate can demonstrate the ability to clearly discuss audio engineering techniques, and steer technical conversations with producers and editors. As a key player on the team, you will develop strong working relationships with producers and editors in a creative environment. In addition, you will be expected to have a working knowledge of NYT studio systems to provide tapings support as needed, and the ability to contribute adaptive and creative original music composition across NYT projects.
This is an in-office position, based in New York City and includes regular attendance in the office four days each week. There may be some flexibility to work remotely per your departmental guidance.
