Senior Manager, Polling & Analytics

Reports to: Director, Polling & Analytics

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)

Status: Full-time, Exempt; The Hub is a unionized workplace and is represented by the Nonprofit Professional Employees Union (NPEU). This position is in the bargaining unit and is covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

Salary Range: $75,000–$77,000

Position Summary

The Senior Manager, Polling & Analytics will be responsible for helping manage a robust public opinion research and analytics pipeline for Navigator Research, a campaign incubated within The Hub Project that conducts quantitative and qualitative research designed to act as a consistent, flexible, responsive tool to inform policy debates for audiences including progressive advocates, elected leaders, and the press. We are looking for someone who follows trends in political public opinion and has experience supporting and operationalizing each phase of the research lifecycle, including survey questionnaires, qualitative discussion guides, and final written and graphical presentations. 

This person will report directly to the Director of Polling & Analytics, and work with a polling & analytics team, and this position will be responsible for supervising the work of an intern and/or an Associate.

This position will also work closely with Navigator Research’s strategic communications team with responsibilities including working with the Navigator Research team on all phases of quantitative and qualitative research lifecycle on projects (including questionnaire design, discussion guides, sample design, field management, data analysis), participating in both written and graphical reporting for both Navigator Research products and other public opinion research projects, and being an occasional spokesperson on behalf of Navigator Research to partners, elected officials, the media, and to internal stakeholders.
 

As a Senior Manager, Polling & Analytics, you will…

  • Manage and meaningfully contribute to phases of both qualitative and quantitative research projects for Navigator Research.
  • Lead independent analysis projects using data analytics software (ie. SPSS), analyzing Navigator’s raw data.
  • Run regressions using data analytics software (ie. SPSS), assessing trends in data whilst eliminating bias.
  • Manage the data warehousing and infrastructure from public opinion research projects, as well as being able to work with large scale data sets as needed.
  • Use data and research to craft narratives through a variety of deliverables, including writing, data visualization, and briefings for internal and public distribution.
  • Be a contact with external polling and analytics consultants and other campaigns in the Hub for their research questions and needs.
  • Externally represent Navigator Research and The Hub Project.
  • Assess and approve all social copy for Navigator’s social media accounts, making sure all data is accurate and accessible.
  • Manage intern(s) and/or polling associate(s).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About you…

  • You have 3-5 years of experience, 2 of which working in survey research, data science, and/or analytics (such as with a research supplier, market research organization, or media outlet) or equivalent.
  • You have experience with statistical software packages and/or programming skills, such as SPSS.
  • You have experience translating complex datasets into key findings and strategic recommendations, and presenting them to a variety of different types of audiences and stakeholders.
  • You are a strong writer and copy editor.
  • You are familiar with survey research methods and best practices.
  • You’re comfortable with multi-tasking, adapting to a changing news cycle, and working under  deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • You’re well-organized and enjoy helping others achieve common goals.
  • You are flexible, adaptable, and detail-oriented.
  • You’re committed to a just and inclusive economy that delivers opportunity and dignity to all Americans and is passionate about preserving and strengthening our democracy.

In addition, it would be a bonus if…

  • You have prior experience working specifically in public opinion research and survey design. 
  • You have experience working with data visualization, such as using Power Point, Excel, or Datawrapper.

Benefits

Comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (and their families). Employees are able to enroll in 401k retirement plans and are eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees are also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits. Employees will receive 120 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees will also receive 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are eligible for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment.
