How will this role contribute to the growth of the Cook community?

Catherine Cook School seeks a passionate and engaging Volleyball Coach. This position plays a key role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and safe team environment where students can grow both athletically and personally. The ideal candidate is confident leading groups of student-athletics (Grades 5-8), experienced in coaching youth sports, and able to design engaging practices, develop game strategies, and model outstanding sportsmanship while supporting the mission and values of Catherine Cook School. 

 

How will I contribute and grow personally and professionally in this role?

  • Applying skills as supported by training and protocols for proactive and responsive community building.  

  • Proactively and reflectively communicating through various platforms the vision, goals, and progress of your work with players and their families.

  • Growing our culture of belonging and wellness through active participation in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and social-emotional learning (SEL) efforts 

  • Serving as an Ambassador for our Enrollment Management and Development efforts

  • Employing Google and Outlook Applications for individual and team collaboration and communication 

 

What will the ideal candidate for this role embody?

  • Bring energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude to working with student-athletes.

  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, patience, and consistency while supporting students, their families, and the athletic program.

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment where students of varying ages and skill levels can grow.

  • Plan and facilitate engaging, age- and skill-appropriate practices, activities, and athletic experiences.

  • Provide clear instruction, encouragement, and feedback while helping students develop athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

  • Prioritize student safety and well-being, including appropriate supervision and awareness of individual health needs such as asthma and allergies.

  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with other coaches, supervisors, parents, referees, and school staff to foster a positive community experience.

  • Adapt well to changing schedules, needs, and circumstances while maintaining a student-centered approach.

  • Support event organization by preparing spaces, setting up activities, and managing student attendance procedures.

  • Model and demonstrate athletic skills, techniques, and positive sportsmanship as appropriate.

 

What is the salary range for this position?

In compliance with the Illinois Equal Pay Act, the compensation for this position is $3,000 for the two-month season, paid in two installments.
