SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

Licensed medical professional to work in a fast growing minimally invasive spine surgery clinic.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. While this is intended to be an accurate reflection of the current job, management reserves the right to revise the job or to require that other or different functions be performed when circumstances change or exigencies require (this includes but is not limited to emergencies, changes in personnel, workload, rush jobs, or technological developments).

 

 

 

  1. Ensuring all forms and patient information are input into the system. 
  2. Completing FMLA in a timely manner
  3. Prepping H&P Packets for the following week
  4. Completing MRI Auths in a timely manner
  5. Printing and distributing Fax Folder Daily
  6. Filtering tasks. Completing or reassigning as necessary
  7. Returning patient calls in a timely manner.
  8. Checking patients in before seeing the provider
  9. Checking patients out after seeing the provider
  10. Complete brace fitting and education for pre op patients
  11. Educate patients on all procedures that we perform.
  12. Complete necessary follow up calls to patients
  13. Keep complete and accurate notes regarding education for surgical candidates.
  14. Performing EKGs 
  15. Completing vitals on patients
  16. Scanning
  17. Reviewing schedule for the following week
  18. Transcribing doctor/patient visits to include.
    1. Physical examination findings
    2. Diagnostic imaging findings
    3. Summary of why patient is being seen.
    4. Treatment plan for the patient
    5. Ordering appropriate diagnostic imaging
    6. Creating appropriate referrals
    7. Creating appropriate booking forms
    8. Creating appropriate work notes for patients
  19. Creating and keeping communication in group chat daily to include every patient seen by provider and what their plan of care is, as well as answering questions medical assistants may have in the chat for you to ask the provider i.e. can patient in room 5 get xyz medication.
  20. Creating a narrative at attorney’s request and getting with provider on how to answer questions involved in this.
  21. Get and enter findings from provider for one day post op x-rays and enter into patients’ chart.
  22. Assist intake scribes as needed with entering new patient paperwork to include intakes, medical history, social history, family history, medications, etc.
  23. Adding addendums on patients chart as needed/directed by provider.
  24. Being available to provider while they complete their paperwork to assist them in answering any questions, they may have on how to complete aforementioned paperwork and any information they need regarding patient in question.
  25. Assisting within the office as needed 
  26. Traveling to all other locations when needed
  27. Assisting in clinic as needed
  28. Communicates with other team members in clinical and clerical areas to provide a successful patient centered practice.
  29. Other duties as assigned.

 

NTIAs may be assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

 

 

  1. High School diploma, GED or equivalent
  2. BLS Certificate 
  3. Certified Medical Assistant (preferred)
  4. Current License in the state of Florida
  5. Experience as an EMT or Medical Assistant (preferred)

 

EXPERIENCE/OTHER REQUIREMENTS

 

 

 

  1. 1 year of relevant call center or medical experience preferred.
  2. 1-2 years of customer service required.
  3. 1 year of medical terminology preferred.
  4. Ability to problem solve as well as critical thinking.
  5. Proficient in professional and effective communication skills
  6. Demonstrate a strong attention to detail and thoroughness.
  7. Effectively utilize available relevant technical tools and resources (e.g. Microsoft, Outlook)

 

KNOWLEDGE

 

 

  1. Knowledge of medical terminology.
  2. Knowledge of the health care field.
  3. Knowledge of legal and ethical considerations related to patient information.
  4. Knowledge of counseling, conflict resolution, and customer service principles and applications.
  5. Knowledge of Insurance and/or experience with verification of insurance eligibility

  1. Skill in putting information in preferred medical record system, meeting clinic standards.
  2. Skill in diffusing tense situations through diplomatic problem-solving.
  3. Skill in using computer and medical records software.
  4. Skill in reading and following written and oral medical order.

  6. Skill intact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.

  9. Ability and willingness to travel between offices on occasion is required.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 

 

 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

Standing six to eight hours per day walking, stooping, bending, and maneuvering. Occasional stress from dealing with many staff and patients. May require lifting to 50 pounds to transfer and or assist a patient in standing on the scale or sitting on the exam table.
