Join Our Team

South Texas Renal Care Group is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and highly motivated Certified Medical Assistant to join our growing Nephrology team. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about providing exceptional patient care while supporting physicians in a fast-paced, team-oriented clinical environment. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with physicians and patients, utilizing both clinical and administrative skills to help deliver outstanding healthcare services.

Position Summary

The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to physicians and healthcare providers while ensuring an exceptional patient experience. Responsibilities include preparing patients for examinations, assisting with patient care, maintaining accurate electronic medical records, coordinating patient care, and supporting the daily operations of the clinic. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and committed to providing excellent customer service while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and patient confidentiality.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist patients in person and over the telephone with professionalism and compassion.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical histories, medications, allergies, and the reason for today's visit.
  • Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
  • Schedule patient appointments and coordinate follow-up care.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and appropriately route patient inquiries.
  • Relay physician messages, critical laboratory values, and patient information promptly and accurately.
  • Receive, document, and process physician orders, including laboratory testing, imaging, prescriptions, and medication refills as directed.
  • Complete pre-clinic chart preparation.
  • Accurately document patient encounters within the electronic medical record (E Clinical).
  • Request, receive, and electronically file medical records from hospitals and referring providers.
  • Fax completed consultation notes and other clinical documentation to referral sources.
  • Process and distribute incoming faxes daily.
  • Follow Meaningful Use guidelines and all documentation standards.
  • Assist with maintaining adequate inventory of clinical supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure examination rooms and equipment are clean, stocked, and ready for patient care.
  • Assist with billing documentation, insurance forms, and third-party requests as assigned.
  • Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Promote a safe, organized, and professional clinical environment.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Medical Assistant experience
  • E Clinical experience
  • Valid Texas Driver's License in good standing with current personal automobile insurance
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
