The Residential Trainer implements behavior analysis programs and provides daily living skills training for children with intellectual disabilities or autism. They are responsible for maintaining a safe environment and assisting individuals in transitioning to discharge placements.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED and a valid Texas Driver's license. Experience working with individuals exhibiting aggressive or self-injurious behaviors is preferred.

Role Responsibilities
The Residential Trainer (RT) works directly with children who have a diagnosis of intellectual and development disability or autism and challenging behaviors. The RT must complete pre-service training. The RT implements behavior analysis programs and special treatment sessions as directed. The RT provides frequent positive interactions with individuals, conducts social skills education, as well as recreational and daily living skills training. The RT is responsible for providing supervision and a safe and pleasant environment for the individuals. The RT meets specialized needs and assists in transitioning people served to discharge placements. RTs are essential staff are required during emergency events to ensure the operations of Texana Center continue and ensure the safety and welfare of the individuals receiving services from Texana Center. Subject to the approval of the BTTC manager, the RT is selected by the Shift Supervisor and is accountable to the Shift and Relief Supervisors of the BTTC.
