Position Summary:
Talbert House is seeking compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented Therapeutic Support Specialists (TSS) to join our growing Crisis Continuum team. TSS staff provide direct support and supervision to adults receiving behavioral health and substance use disorder services within our Engagement Center and Crisis Stabilization programs. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping others, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want to make a meaningful impact in the lives of people experiencing behavioral health crises.
Position Description:
Actively supervise and engage with clients to create a safe and therapeutic environment
Utilize approved techniques to maintain safety of clients and staff including crisis de-escalation
Promote healthy and professional relationships with and between clients
Help clients learn to make appropriate decisions
Maintain awareness of any special behavior plans for clients
Help plan, implement and support both therapeutic and educational activities
Utilize a trauma informed approach when dealing with clients and families
Maintain health and safety standards within the facility
Complete accurate and timely documentation utilizing shift reports
Respond to emergencies or incidents through approved practices and protocols
Operate vehicle to transport clients asrequired
Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Intermediate level problem solving skills and ability to multi-task
Effective use of computer and basic data management for record keeping purposes
Basic conflict resolution/crisis management skills and techniques
Learn and practice program specific principles such as Trauma Informed Care and Crisis Intervention (once trained)
Driving if required by program
Job Requirements:
High School Graduate or High School Equivalency
Prior experience in Behavioral Health programs or client care
Essential Functions/Physical Demands:
Positional: Driving in accordance with job duties assigned. Frequent standing and walking. Occasional sitting.
Gross Mobility: Rare climbing, or crawling. Infrequent balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Frequent reaching and handling.
Sensory: Rare tasting/smelling. Infrequent use of color vision. Frequent use of far visual acuity, depth perception, and field of vision. Frequent use of near and midrange visual acuity, and visual accommodation. Frequent to constant talking and hearing.
Ability to operate standard office equipment including computer
