Position Summary: T. Lowell Construction is seeking an experienced CDL Side-Dump Driver / Equipment Hauler to support our underground utility and civil construction operations.
This position combines the responsibilities of operating a side-dump truck with safely transporting heavy construction equipment between jobsites, vendor locations, maintenance facilities, and our yard. The ideal candidate is an experienced commercial driver who understands the pace of municipal utility construction and can operate safely in active excavation environments. This position plays a critical role in keeping crews productive by ensuring materials and equipment arrive safely, on time, and ready for work.
Key Responsibilities:
Side-Dump Operations
Safely transport aggregates, import/export material, bedding, backfill, spoils, and other construction materials
Deliver materials to active utility and street excavation projects
Haul materials between jobsites, vendor yards, pits, quarries, and disposal facilities
Operate side-dump equipment safely on paved and unimproved roads
Equipment Transportation
Safely load, secure, transport, and unload company equipment including: Excavators, Wheel Loaders, Skid steers, Compactors, Rollers, Backhoes, Trench Boxes, Attachments, Small support equipment, and more
Proper loading and unloading procedures
Correct tie-down methods and load securement inspections
Route planning
Jobsite Support
Coordinate with Superintendents, Foremen, Dispatch, Mechanics, and Project Managers
Assist with daily equipment moves to maximize production
Work safely around excavation crews, underground utilities, traffic control, and heavy equipment
Assist with deliveries during changing project priorities
Vendor & Yard Operations
Pick up materials from quarries, pipe suppliers, concrete plants, and equipment vendors
Verify quantities, materials, and load tickets
Assist with organization of company yard and equipment staging
Deliver equipment for maintenance and repairs as needed
Equipment Care
Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections
Perform routine housekeeping and minor preventative maintenance
Report maintenance concerns promptly
Maintain trucks, trailers, and securement equipment in clean, safe operating condition
Documentation
Maintain accurate:
Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)
Haul & Scale tickets
Equipment move documentation
Fuel records
DOT logs and ELD requirements
Load securement documentation when required
Qualifications:
Valid Class A CDL
Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate
Clean driving record meeting company insurance requirements
Ability to pass DOT drug and alcohol screening and participate in the company's random testing program
Experience operating side-dump trucks and transporting heavy construction equipment
Experience operating in active excavation and utility construction environments
Ability to safely maneuver in confined jobsites
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Bonus Points:
Experience transporting large specialized utility construction equipment
Lowboy/RGN trailer experience
Familiarity with Denver-area quarries, aggregate suppliers, disposal sites, and municipal utility construction
Basic equipment operation (loading/unloading own equipment)

Compensation & Benefits:
$30-$42/hour, based on experience and qualifications
Bonus and profit share eligibility
