Job Title: Assistant Lead Case Manager

Department: Case Management

Supervisor: Lead Case Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Prepared by: Human Resources Department

Summary

The Assistant Lead Case Manager at Sunny Glen Children’s is responsible for providing oversight of the case management department. The Assistant Lead Case Manager (ALCM) will use professional judgment and best practices to train new case managers and monitor the department’s overall functions and job duties. ALCM is expected to provide guidance with reunification and post-reunification recommendations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide oversight and direct supervision of the case management department including comprehensive services offered to clients while in care. May be responsible for a team of case managers to provide direct supervision.
With the assistance and directive of the Lead Case Manager, provide training to new hires, training refreshers, and policy updates to case managers.
Assist the Lead Case Manager with case manager caseload assignments.
Create and manage department schedules, manuals, guides, and employee timecards/requests.
Evaluation of staff performance, providing feedback and helping resolve employee issues in communication with immediate supervisor and human resources.
Facilitate effective communication with other departments.
Coordinate and communicate directly with the Lead Case Managers for review of audit findings, reports, staffing of complex cases, and address case managers.
Conduct audits or content reviews of client cases (physical or electronic) to ensure proper reunification progress or identify delays.
Maintain accurate records, files, forms, statistics, and additional relevant information in accordance with agency policy, licensing, and/or funding requirements.
Coordinate with third-party contractors, ORR, and other outside service providers to share and staff all pertinent information and updates on clients.
Act as a liaison with stakeholders, legal services providers, DHS, and immigration court
Prepare, compile, and submit accurate documentation in case management software.
Adhere to all timeframes & deadlines as per state, ORR, and internal policies and procedures.
Assist Lead Case Manager with stakeholder and internal reports to be submitted in a timely manner.
Supervise staff to ensure they maintain a therapeutic, and trauma-informed view of each child in his/her caseload and help staff develop this perspective.
Assist staff with communicating with clients and/or sponsors and family members of clients within a specified timeframe to discuss and request reunification procedures.
Confirms that staff complete and conduct all necessary required assessments, interviews, and service planning to abide by ORR and Licensing standards and policies to ensure the safe release of client.
Monitors child’s services, ensures all required services are delivered, sets initial appointments, and communicates appointments with appropriate staff as well as sponsors and family in home country.
Maintain coverage for review of staff cases prior to release submission and provide recommendations to ensure the safe release of clients.
With the expertise of ORR procedures and in consultation with the supervisor, make decisions affecting the safety of the child.
Coordinates placement disruptions and discharge/transfer paperwork when necessary
Provide case management coverage on behalf of the Lead Case Manager
Maintain confidentiality in all areas.
Attend ORR, Licensing, and Internal program training and meetings when required.
Participate in licensing investigations accordingly.
Participate in activities or supplemental training that promote professional growth and development.
Engage staff to involve clients and their sponsors in the casework process.
Participate in weekly case staffing with supervisor, reunification specialist, case managers, clinical team, and contracted staff (Case Coordinators, Contract Field Specialist, and/or Federal Field Specialist)
Must abide by SGCH mission of giving nurturing, trauma-informed care to children from difficult backgrounds, and policies and procedures (minimum standards)
Able to react to change productively, in a fast-paced environment, and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
Work evenings, weekend rotations, and holidays as needed to assist with campus emergencies, crises, or ongoing reunification processes as requested by the supervisor.
Ability to evacuate/travel if needed due to natural disaster.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree required in Social Work, or another Human Services related field, from an accredited college or university.

1-year Supervisory experience preferred.

1 year’s case management experience is required.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability
