Full job description
Starship Technologies is revolutionizing deliveries with autonomous robots. These robots are designed to deliver food, groceries, and packages across college campuses and neighborhoods in minutes. Starship has now completed millions of autonomous deliveries to date, traveled millions of miles, and is currently doing more than 140k road crossings each day. Our contribution to society includes reducing congestion, and pollution, providing zero-emissions deliveries, increasing the quality of life for residents, empowering seniors and disabled people, and enabling affordable delivery for local businesses.
Are you someone who thrives on physical activity and enjoys the freedom of riding a bike? Do you relish the idea of exploring different cities and neighborhoods? If you answered yes, then we have the perfect opportunity for you! We're looking for energetic individuals to join our team as an Area Mapper.
This role involves not only riding your bike to map out areas but also requires flexibility to travel throughout the week and stay over in different cities and countries, where travel expenses and daily allowances are covered. If you're ready for an adventure and eager to contribute to our mapping efforts, we want to hear from you!
The position is a full-time role, consisting of 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday, with an initial contract of 3 months.
Your main responsibilities are:
Traveling from Monday-Friday (the typical week looks like as follows: you will take the van, bike, and robot from Hamburg hub on Monday and then drive to different cities throughout the week to do the mapping and return on Friday)
Physically assisting with mapping new areas by primarily riding a bike throughout the day and guiding our robot along the way
Supporting our Launch Manager with launch-related activities
Monitoring robots remotely and being prepared to intervene in unexpected situations
Maintaining real-time communication with the remotely situated robot operator
Serving as a public ambassador and representative for Starship
Providing support to the operations team at the hub when required
What’s in it for you?
Opportunity to work on industry-leading self-driving delivery robot technology on a uniquely large scale, creating history and making things happen
You can immerse yourself in the world of technology and innovation
You will have a chance to work with people with a strong inner burning and motivation. We are self-aware and seek feedback and improvement. We don’t wait until we are told what needs to be done but take it as a matter of pride to figure out solutions for topics in various teams and areas
You’ll have endless opportunities to learn from our inspirational, talented team members across the globe
What we hope you’ll bring to the table: • Possession of a valid driver's license for manual transmission vehicles and experience driving one • Willingness to travel outside of Hamburg, across Germany to explore new areas, constituting 70-80% of the workweek. There might be occasions to travel outside Germany to other countries in the EU. • Dedication to maintaining physical activity levels while on assignment • Genuine enthusiasm for cutting-edge technologies • Eagerness to contribute to a new and inspiring venture • Demonstrated traits of responsibility, reliability, and quick thinking skills with the ability to resolve non-standard situations
