Responsibilities

Develop and lead community connections to create employment and engagement opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include completing person-centered plans and teaching vocational and social skills.

Requirements

Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED and a clean driving record with at least two years of experience. Physical ability to lift, push, and pull is required along with proficiency in Microsoft Office.

COMMUNITY AND EMPLOYMENT COORDINATOR

Hourly Salary:  $23.60/hr 

Job Type: Full-Time     

Shift:  Monday - Friday 7:30am - 3:30pm 

Hours per pay period:  80          

Location: Charles County, MD

Job Description:

We are looking for an amazing person that is energetic, community integrated focused, well organized, self-,motivated and professional. This person must have the ability to build strong relationships with businesses and other community members with a goal to create opportunities for paid employment, self-employment, non-aid work experience, meaningful day and community exploration opportunities for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.             

Duties Include but not limited to:

  • Developing and leading community connections and Spring Dell Center based program
  • Willingness to teach or learn to become a better teacher
  • Monitoring the people we support
  • Completing person-centered plans (PCP)
  • Completing modified discovery packets
  • Planning activities around area that may peak their interest for employment, volunteering and community engagement
  • Providing the opportunity to develop vocational, community and social skills

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Perform physical activities such as: lifting, pushing and pulling
  • Clean Driving Record with 2 years driving experience
  • Demonstrate sound time management and dependability
  • Ability to build strong community relationship with local businesses
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Basic Computer Skills

Once obtained, individuals are provided with necessary levels of support to help them maintain positions in large and small local businesses. Habilitation programs also provide training activities to persons who experience severe or profound intellectual disabilities and/or multiple disabilities. Curriculums include but are not limited to business development, independent living skills, as well as art, music and physical therapy for individuals 21 years of age and up. Specific programs are geared towards the aging population. Additionally, independent community living is provided through residential services with necessary support provided by the agency. Service such as respite care, in-home services, assistance with medical appointments, transportation or obtaining benefits and other resources within the community can be established on a one-time or ongoing basis.
