About the Opportunity
SeqMatic is seeking a bioinformatics research associate to join our sequencing service team on a 3 month contract basis. The position requires a strong background in bioinformatics or a related science, particularly in analyzing NGS data.
Responsibilities
Data QC of NGS sequencing data
Bioinformatic analysis of NGS data, particularly bulk RNA and scRNA
Custom bioinformatic analysis
Develop, maintain, and optimize analysis pipelines
Generating data QC and analysis reports
Organize and maintain experimental records and lab procedures;
Communicate in person and electronically with customers and team members;
Qualification Requirements:
B.S. or M.S. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics or a related science;
Experience with a scripting language (Python, R, Perl, Bash, Java, Javascript) is required
Experience working in a Unix/Linux command-line environment is required
Experience working with next-generation sequencing preferred, particularly Illumina or 10X Genomics libraries
Familiarity with common bioinformatics software tools for processing next-generation sequencing data, such as Bowtie, GATK/Picard, STAR, SAMtools, Cell Ranger, and/or similar applications.
Experience working with large-scale biological datasets using high-performance computing. Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS is a plus.
Proficient using MS Office Software
Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines;
Ability to work independently and with a team;
Must be detail-oriented and have strong analytical skills;
