Purpose:
The Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit, Catholic university in Silicon Valley, seeks an Annual Lecturer to teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Marketing beginning in Fall 2026.
Santa Clara University and the Leavey School of Business have a long tradition of teaching excellence. The ideal candidate will possess doctoral training in marketing and the ability to bring strong quantitative skills into the classroom. Teaching is judged by the "teacher's total effect upon the education of his or her students" and includes classroom instruction, academic advising, and curriculum development.
The successful applicant is expected to focus on teaching quantitative marketing courses, which are in high demand. This includes teaching core undergraduate and graduate courses such as Innovation & New Product Marketing, Marketing Analytics, and Analysis for Marketing Decisions. The position duties encompass teaching/advising, service, and professional activity, with teaching serving as the primary responsibility.

The maximum teaching load is nine undergraduate courses over three academic quarters (Fall, Winter, and Spring). Lecturers are appointed for a one-year term. Reappointment to subsequent terms depends on the availability of funds, the persistence of programmatic need, and superior teaching.
Responsibilities:
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Planning and teaching assigned marketing courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Designing course syllabi.
Preparing for and conducting all assigned class meetings.
Assigning and evaluating written work, projects, and exams that align with course learning objectives.
Holding weekly office hours on campus.
Assigning and submitting student grades to the Registrar's office by the designated deadline.
Engaging in university and student events.
Serving as an active member of the department’s task force on strategic initiatives.
Attending department and school meetings as requested.
Fulfilling other instructional or academic duties as may be assigned by the Chair or Dean.
Basic Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Marketing (or a related field) and demonstrated excellence or significant improvement in teaching at the university level.
Preferred Qualifications: Deep familiarity with Santa Clara University's undergraduate and graduate students, alongside the structural needs of its academic programs. Demonstrated expertise in teaching quantitative marketing courses.
