Position Purpose

Working as part of the Marketing & Communications Team and reporting to the Director, Marketing & Communications, the Creative Services Specialist contribute to the development, implementation, maintenance and enrichment of the Foundation’s graphic identity across all print, display, and digital platforms directly impacting the Riley brand and the Foundation’s engagement and fundraising efforts. 


Foundation, region/department and individual staff goals are set annually and are expected to grow toward the Foundation’s strategic plan and annual business plan.

Key Responsibilities

 

1. Create High-Quality Designs

  • Creative Concepting: Bring the mission of Riley Children’s Foundation to life through thoughtful, creative, audience-centered design.  Consult and collaborate with colleagues and teams throughout the Foundation to recommend effective design solutions to engage donors and prospective donors and contribute to the achievement of measurable fundraising results. Develop and maintain an understanding of key audiences and consider how design sets tone and reinforces messaging.
  • Branding: Incorporate brand standards consistently, powerfully and evocatively and in a manner that advances Riley Children’s Foundation’s standing among donor audiences, particularly philanthropic leaders. 
  • Execution: Through focused and diligent efforts, produce high-quality deliverables for all platforms, including print, web, social media, simple animations, email, and environmental signage. Review design files and deliverables for accuracy, consistency, brand alignment, and production readiness. Manage, at times, multiple design requests, production schedules and deadlines while staying on budget, maintaining consistency and responsiveness. 
  • Develop toolkits: Develop and maintain branded templates that can be easily accessed and edited by colleagues throughout the Foundation for projects of lower priority, so greater attention can be focused on projects that drive giving and relate to major gifts.

2. Digital Asset Management

  • Serve as the marketing and communications expert for the digital asset management system. 
  • Develop processes and efficiencies for optimizing platform usage including coordination of uploading creative assets and collaboration with colleagues on appropriate tagging. 


3. Manage marketing vendor relationships

  • Coordinate and direct freelance photographers during photo sessions involving Riley kids, caregivers, team members and donors.
  • Manage production vendors ensuring we receive the best service and quality.
  • Bid projects on a regular cadence to ensure we receive the best prices and act as good stewards of Foundation funds. 
  • Ensure invoices and processing are timely and accurate.
     

4. Administrative

  • Meetings: Prepare for and actively participate in all Riley Children’s Foundation meetings as appropriate. Ensure expectations and tools for meeting agendas and follow-up are implemented.
  • Budget: Work with your officer/direct manager to develop, manage and monitor the budget, staying within overall budget guidelines.
  • Technology: Understand and effectively use the technology available at the Riley Children’s Foundation. 
  • Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with all Foundation policies, as well as local, state and federal laws that govern business practices.

 

5. Other Duties as Assigned

  • Riley Children’s Foundation events: Participate in Riley Children’s Foundation Events as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.




Education and Experience

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience. 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of relevant experience. Ability to manage multiple tasks and get accurate and timely results. 
  • Skills: Advance experience with Adobe Cloud: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects and other Adobe products; Previous knowledge of Bynder is helpful; creative/art direction; branding guidelines implementation and maintenance; working knowledge of MS Office and Apple Keynote; knowledge of a variety of printing techniques; logo design; photo shoot oversight; basic illustration, Web graphics and video editing; strong layout and composition skills; color, typography, organization and communication skills; intermediate knowledge and experience working with HTML and responsive digital platforms.
  • Qualities: Personal belief in Riley Children’s Foundation vision, mission, core values and strategic direction. Results oriented. Ability to work independently under pressure and effectively prioritize a varied and diverse workload. Creative and resourceful. Inquisitive and sharp minded coupled with demonstrated aptitude for strategic donor or customer experience strategy. Self-motivating and self-starting. Ability to take quiet pride in one’s work.
