IPosition Summary:
The Patient Access Representative (PAR) provides support to clinical staff by performing the administrative components that begins the revenue cycle. They gather pertinent information from patient to include all demographic information such as name, DOB, and insurance coverage to ensure that financial obligations and other requirements are met. The PAR should be detailed oriented with great interpersonal skills and must provide excellent customer service to all patients, staff, and visitors.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

• Provides excellent customer service to all patients, visitors, and co-workers.
• Answers telephone in a timely and polite manner.
• Transfers call to clinical staff when medically indicated.
• Schedules and re-schedules appointments as needed.
• Calls No-Show appointments to reschedule, identifies any barriers to care, and makes appropriate notations in EHR.
• Accurately takes messages and conveys information to recipient.
• Obtains and verifies current patient demographic information, to include email address and advises patient on how to access the patient portal.
• Accurately enters/updates patient information in EHR.
• Identifies payer source, verifies insurance eligibility, financial status, assigns correct pay type, and advises each patient of Sliding Scale Fee Program.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and obtains authorizations for dates of service.
• Assists patients with completion of paperwork when necessary.
• Notes patient arrival in EHR.
• Observes patients in waiting area and reports any apparent illness or distress to clinical staff.
• Processes School/Work excuses as prescribed by provider.
• Prints schedules for upcoming appointments.
• Identifies patients in EHR; reviews EHR for needed updated demographics and consent forms.
• Create, maintain, copies and scans patient files in EHR and other documentation as needed.
• Protects/observes patient confidentiality per policies and procedures.
• Collect office charges, post charges to patient accounts, accurately manage cash drawer, monitor patient accounts, and refer to financial counselor per policies and procedures.
• Accurately reconciles charges for the day.
• Accurately prepares daily deposits.
SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS
• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
• Must be certified in Basic Life Support techniques.
• Additional appropriate education may be substituted for one year of billing experience.
• Must be bi-lingual.
• Medical Office Experience preferred.
• Knowledge of business office procedures.
