Responsibilities

Provides leadership and supervision to subordinate mechanics while performing comprehensive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, structural, and operational equipment. Manages work orders via CMMS and ensures the operational efficiency of pump stations and treatment plants.

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma or vocational training and at least four years of experience in mechanical maintenance, including two years as a Maintenance Tech I. Must possess a valid driver's license and obtain specific certifications for Gorman Rupp/KSB, Mission Communication, Vega, Confined Space, and Forklift operation.

The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

  • Provides leadership and limited supervision of subordinate mechanics; assigns and reviews work, and offers training, advises and assists as needed.
  • Inspects, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs all types of mechanical, structural, and operational equipment owned and operated by the agency.
  • Performs general maintenance, such as structural and mechanical metal fabrication, plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting, insulating and minor electrical repairs.
  • Performs minor building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and painting repairs as necessary.
  • Performs daily, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance checks and services.
  • Prepares, creates, and processes reactive and routine preventive maintenance work orders within a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Software), daily work sheets, purchase requisitions and related paperwork.
  • Responds to emergency repair requests in a timely manner, ensuring minimal downtime of equipment and systems.
  • Assists in maintaining parts and supply inventory.
  • Makes recommendations and provides information required to complete employee appraisals of subordinate mechanics.
  • Maintains maintenance of pump station sites, treatment plants and other facilities owned and operated by the agency as needed or required.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate and complete work records.
  • Performs general clerical work as necessary, including but not limited to completing forms, preparing records and reports, entering, and retrieving computer data, copying, and filing documents, answering the telephone, etc.
  • Assures that safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, City, State and Federal guidelines.
  • Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints, and requests for assistance in areas of responsibility.
  • Maintains assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment.
  • Serves on call 24 hours a day as scheduled and responds to emergency situations as necessary.
  • Attends conferences, meetings, training, seminars, etc., as necessary to maintain and enhance job knowledge and skills.
  • Management may assign additional duties as trained for and qualified to do so related to the work of the position as necessary.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • Requires high school diploma, GED, or specialized vocational training.
  • Requires a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a work-related field repairing, replacing, and maintaining pumps, motors, pneumatic, hydraulic, valves, electrical equipment and performing mechanical maintenance, and a minimum of two (2) years as a maintenance tech I.
  • Certified Gorman Rupp/ KSB Operation and Maintenance.
  • Must have completed in-house Mission Communication installation, troubleshooting, and initial set up.
  • Must have completed in-house Vega installation, set-up, and troubleshooting.
  • Certified Confined Space 8-hour training. (William Frost) within one (1) year from date of employment.
  • Must obtain a forklift certification within six (6) months from date of employment.
