REMCAN is currently looking for a full-time Red Seal Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic based out of our Barrie location in Ontario.

The primary role of the Heavy Duty Mechanic is to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair our diverse fleet of rail and construction equipment. The position reports directly to the Superintendent of the Mechanical Division.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Hybrid work location - 80% Shop / 20% as Field Mechanic
• Complete daily safety briefings
• Complete daily reports
• Perform preventative maintenance on various equipment
• Diagnose and repair all types of equipment
• Complete work orders and equipment logbooks accurately
• Source parts and supplies when necessary
• Work individually as well as in a team environment
• Work within our safety guidelines
• Travel to various work locations throughout Eastern Canada to repair equipment
• Work in a 100% rule compliance safe working environment

 Qualifications:

• Red Seal Journeyman in Heavy Duty Mechanics or Commercial Transport is ideal
• 3rd or 4th year Apprentice will be considered for the right candidate
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as Heavy Duty Mechanic (as Apprentice or Journeyman)
• Experience with Railway Equipment an asset
• Extensive experience with hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting and repairs
• Open to learn and repair all types of equipment
• Willingness to travel and work in remote locations when necessary, with Barrie, Ontario as your base location
• Able to pass pre-employment medical and drug screening
• Able to demonstrate an ability to work unsupervised as well as in teams
• Must hold a Class 5 License with a clean Driver’s abstract
• Class 3 license w/ air would be an asset
