Job Title: Associate / Senior Associate, Multifamily Originations
Location: New York City (Hybrid – 3 Days On-Site)
Job Summary
Ready Capital Affordable Multi-Family is a dynamic and growing niche business dedicated exclusively to Affordable Housing Finance. With a team of 25 professionals, the firm has recently closed its own investor fund and currently services a loan portfolio of $4.3 billion.
We are seeking an Associate / Senior Associate to join our Originations team in New York City. This position is designed for a mid-career position designed to support senior originators and investment professionals across underwriting, transaction execution, and market analysis for affordable multifamily transactions, including tax-exempt bond and LIHTC financing. This role will eventually grow into independently managing transactions, cultivating business relationships, and contributing to the growth of our national lending platform.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in affordable housing debt origination, multifamily lending, or affordable housing equity (LIHTC) transactions. The ideal candidate is analytically strong, detail-oriented, and motivated to build a career in affordable housing finance with exposure to the full life cycle of originations and closings.
Key Responsibilities
- Support originations team in sourcing, underwriting, and execution of affordable multifamily loan transactions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with affordable housing developers, owners, brokers, lenders, investors, and industry advisors to generate new business opportunities.
- Create financial modeling and credit analysis for multifamily assets, including review of:
- Loan-to-Value (LTV)
- Debt Service Coverage Ratio (DSCR)
- Sources and Uses
- Cash Flow Projections
- Analyze affordable housing transactions involving LIHTC, tax-exempt bonds, agency financing, bridge loans, and other affordable housing capital structures.
- Coordinate due diligence materials and support the closing process for bond and loan transactions.
- Review legal documentation to ensure alignment with investor requirements and interests
- Prepare transaction summaries, credit memoranda, investment committee materials, and lender presentations.
- Collaborate with internal credit, capital markets, legal, and servicing teams to facilitate transaction execution. Travel nationally to attend industry conferences, participate in networking opportunities, and visit project properties.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including capital markets, credit, legal, and servicing, as needed.
- Support strategic initiatives aimed at growing the Affordable Multifamily platform and increasing market share.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of affordable housing lending, LIHTC syndication, multifamily lending not limited to affordable or a related field required
- Proven success driving business development efforts both individually and as part of a team.
- Strong relationships within the affordable housing and multifamily finance community preferred.
- Advanced financial modeling, analytical, underwriting, and credit evaluation skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly identify and deliver answers to ad hoc questions from clients.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling tools.
The annual salary range for this position is:
$110,000 – $135,000
Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, business development capabilities.
