The Forensic Nurse Examiner provides compassionate medical-forensic exams and prophylaxis for pregnancy and STIs. They are also responsible for photographic documentation and collaborating with law enforcement and advocacy agencies for patient follow-up.
Candidates must have a nursing degree, an Oregon RN license, BLS certification, and completion of the SANE-A course. Two years of nursing experience are required, with SANE-A or SANE-OR certification preferred.
The forensic nurse examiner will provide timely, compassionate care to patients seeking medical-forensic exams in accordance with established protocols. This will include completing a medical-forensic exam, providing prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, photographic documentation, and completing referrals for appropriate medical and psychological follow-up. The FNE will also collaborate with community partners including advocacy agencies, law enforcement, prosecutors, and child and vulnerable adult protection agencies where applicable.
