The Manager – Clinal Training and Development reports to the Director - Programs, Innovation & Impact. The Manager works closely with Program Managers, Volunteer Faculty, partner hospitals, professional societies, academic institutions, Orbis global technical teams, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful planning, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of clinical/ non-clinical training initiatives.

The role may provide technical guidance and oversight to staff, consultants, trainers, and project teams involved in clinical/ non-clinical education activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY 

• Lead the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of clinical/ non-clinical education programs, including blended learning initiatives through platforms such as Cybersight.
• Develop and implement the clinical/ non-clinical training strategy and annual work plan aligned with country program objectives, ensuring programs meet organizational priorities and evolving learning needs.
• Oversee the development of curricula, competency frameworks, learning materials, and assessment tools to ensure quality, relevance, and consistency across all training programs.
• Lead the planning, coordination, delivery, and quality assurance of clinical training programs, including Hospital-Based Training (HBT), for ophthalmologists, allied ophthalmic personnel, and other healthcare professionals.
• Collaborate with Orbis global teams, Volunteer Faculty, partner hospitals, academic institutions, and external experts to strengthen clinical/ non-clinical education programs and expand learning opportunities.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of clinical/ non-clinical training programs, using participant feedback and performance data to drive continuous improvement.
• Oversee the management of training resources, digital learning platforms, and educational technologies, identifying innovative approaches that enhance learning outcomes.
• Ensure training programs comply with organizational policies, donor requirements, clinical standards, and adult learning best practices.
• Promote knowledge sharing and collaboration across Orbis programs, partners, and stakeholders to strengthen clinical/ non-clinical capacity and encourage continuous learning.
• Prepare high-quality technical reports, donor reports, presentations, and program updates, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
• Contribute technical expertise to program design, proposal development, and resource mobilization initiatives related to clinical capacity building.
• Manage assigned training budgets and provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to staff, consultants, trainers, and partners involved in clinical education activities.
• Support the adoption and implementation of telehealth, online learning and mentorship services and tools for eye health professionals across India, including Orbis DTH partners; 
• Act as a Cybersight champion for these services and tools: promoting them, delivering training and supporting their successful use and attracting new Cybersight users at ophthalmic and other health conferences and events. 
• Oversee the deployment of Cybersight Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Orbis India-supported programs. 
• Facilitate live webinars delivered by ophthalmology experts for the eye health community in India, using video-conferencing services.
• Represent Orbis India at technical meetings, conferences, workshops, and external forums related to clinical/ non-clinical education and capacity building.

• Master’s degree in public health, Healthcare, Medical Education, Adult Learning, Training and Development, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in designing, managing, and evaluating healthcare or clinical training programs.
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale capacity-building initiatives and developing learning strategies.
• Experience developing blended learning programs using online learning platforms and digital education tools.
• Experience working with healthcare professionals, preferably in ophthalmology or a related clinical specialty.
• Demonstrated experience developing competency-based education frameworks and assessment methodologies.
• Experience managing multiple stakeholders, partnerships, and cross-functional projects.
• Experience with donor-funded health programs is desirable.
• Previous experience supervising staff, consultants, or trainers is an advantage.

• Strong leadership, strategic planning, and people development skills.
• Strong project and program management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design, and competency based education.
• Proficiency with digital learning platforms, virtual learning technologies, and learning management systems.
