Description

Project Commutation, which began in 2018, is a program of JusticeLink, LLC. Project Commutation provides legal representation and reentry case management for incarcerated individuals appearing before the Pardon and Parole Board. In addition to its direct service work, Project Commutation focuses on system-level improvements, advocating for changes that increase access, fairness and transparency in the parole and commutation process. Project Commutation remains the first and only organization offering indigent parole and commutation defense in the state.

Overview

The Project Commutation Reentry Case Manager will provide reentry resources for incarcerated individuals who are seeking Commutation and/or Parole. The case manager will create reentry plans and ensure resources are provided to Project Commutation clients after being released from the Department of Corrections. This position reports to the Project Commutation Program Director. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with multiple social service providers and with multiple community partner organizations (both rural and urban) in the development and provision of recovery and reentry services for justice-involved individuals
  • Communicating with family members of incarcerated individuals regarding any commutation and / or parole hearings and updates
  • Fostering strong relationships with justice-involved individuals in order to help them build their skills and empower them to achieve stability upon release 
  • Serving as the liaison between local community organizations to foster partnerships and develop resources 
  • Evaluating and analyzing existing programs and resources in order to identify best fit for each individual 
  • Identifying, collecting and analyzing data to provide statistical reports 
  • Monitoring reentry participation and programming progress to intervene as needed to resolve any issues 
  • Working with our case management system Filevine
  • Other tasks as assigned

Requirements

Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent lived experience, training, and demonstrated ability to support individuals navigating reentry and related systems.
  • Experience in case management and job readiness preparation within adult social services, specifically with returning citizens is a plus 
  • Experience in navigating social services resources, programs and benefit systems
  • Sensitivity to the needs of special populations, especially justice-involved individuals and their families 
  • The ideal candidate will have experience working in criminal law in Oklahoma

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with others 
  • Ability to coordinate and remain knowledgeable working with multiple clients at the same time
  • Skilled in Word and Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Sensitivity to the needs of special populations
  • Willingness to meet personally with all clients, including traveling in-state to different DOC facilities 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to either drive or ride in a car for several hours in order to attend monthly Pardon and Parole Board hearings and visit DOC facilities

Hours & Location:

  • Position is based at 211 West Archer Street, Tulsa, OK 74103.
  • Typical work hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 to 4:00, but flexibility is required for visits to DOC facilities and Pardon and Parole Board hearings.
