WHAT WE DO:

At Plasma-Therm®, we design and build configurable wafer processing platforms for standard and advanced processes used in microelectronics manufacturing. From etch and deposition applications to rapid thermal processing and plasma dicing, our systems keep pace with your needs and are engineered to provide outstanding performance time after time.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Technical Buyer you will procure materials, component parts, equipment, and services to support Manufacturing and Customer Service requirements. Experience buying "build-to-print" products is critical. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares and issues POs (purchase orders) on complex or specialized parts to support production schedules and departmental requirements. Liaison with Engineering and Design groups on product specifications
  • Prepares and issues RFQs (Request for Quote) and inputs information received into MRP system for the purpose of using price quantity breaks and determining secondary sourcing
  • Places orders, selects most appropriate sources of supply, gives full weight to competitive quotations, delivery schedules, and vendor quality
  • Seeks out and qualifies new vendors to support the supply chain and mitigate single source supply risks.
  • Contacts vendors regarding adjustments, incorrect material, or delivery problems. Coordinates corrective actions
  • Maintains working knowledge of product lines and applications
  • Develops and maintains effective vendor relations
  • Assists in evaluating vendor reliability by reporting vendor quality, dependability, and price performance. Be proficient in the vendor qualification process
  • Mentors less experienced buyers
  • Metrics: Understands, assess and evaluates all daily, weekly and monthly standard metrics (KPIs) reported by the Supply Chain group
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you need to have to be considered:

  • High School Diploma required,
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or other related discipline is preferred
  • Experience with Machine to Print and Fabricated Components Required
  • Minimum five (5) years of closely related purchasing experience
  • Proficient in MRP systems and computer-based programs such as Excel, Word, Project, etc.
  • Skills, abilities and attributes acquired to be successful in this role:
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, or other technical material
  • Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and customers
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to access and manipulate system MRP data for reporting and tracking purposes
  • Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally as required
  • Ability to effectively negotiate terms of sale to meet schedule and pricing objectives

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The normal work environment is typical of a business office, manufacturing operation, with clean room facility and support areas such as stockroom and machine shop.
  • The incumbent is routinely required to sit, stand, walk, touch, see, and hear, and may be required to lift or move up to 25 pounds.
