The Environmental Services Technician performs various cleaning and maintenance tasks, including floor care, sanitization, and waste removal, to maintain high standards within the healthcare facility. They are also responsible for cleaning patient areas, isolation rooms, and maintaining environmental tools and equipment.
Candidates must be able to read, write, and speak English and possess the physical ability to stand, bend, and lift heavy objects. A high school diploma and at least one year of previous environmental services experience in a healthcare facility are preferred.
The Environmental Services Technician performs a variety of cleaning tasks under general direction. In order to achieve the highest cleaning standards possible the Environmental Services Technician performs floor care, dust mopping sweeping outside areas, scrubbing, stripping, and buffing, shampooing and spill removal. Damp washing of counters, telephones, desks, ledges, etc. Washing light fixtures, ceiling, and walls involves use of ladders or step stools. Trash and soiled linen removal. Isolation room cleaning as prescribed in written procedures. Changing of cubical curtains and drapes. Cleaning and maintaining of environmental tools and equipment. Cleaning of occupied patient areas and dismissals. Cleaning other related duties as assigned to ensure the highest quality of service throughout the facility.
