We are Parallel 49 Brewing Company, a craft brewery based in the heart of East Vancouver.  We were founded in 2012 by passionate craft beer enthusiasts and have quickly become a staple in the Canadian craft beer scene. As a Brewer at Parallel 49 Brewing Company, you will be an integral part of our brewing team, responsible for producing high-quality craft beers that meet our standards of excellence. This role involves hands-on brewing, monitoring fermentation, maintaining equipment, and ensuring all aspects of the brewing process are executed with precision. The ideal candidate is not only passionate about craft beer but also possesses a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe brewing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Brewing Operations: Execute all aspects of the brewing process, including mashing, lautering, boiling, fermenting and conditioning.
• Quality Control: Conduct regular quality checks throughout the brewing process to ensure consistency and adherence to our high-quality standards.
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on brewing equipment and troubleshoot basic issues to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance. Report all major issues to the Maintenance team and the Brew Team Manager. 
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records in the enterprise resource planning system of all brewing activities, including ingredient measurements, brewing parameters, and quality control data.
• Safety and Cleanliness: Adhere to all safety protocols and sanitation standards to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including fellow brewers, cellar workers, and packaging staff, to ensure smooth communication and efficient operations.

Qualifications

• 2+  years of previous experience in a brewing role within a large craft brewery environment.
• Knowledge of brewing processes, equipment, and quality control measures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality beer.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Education Requirements

• Formal brewing education or certification is preferred.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to stand, bend and stoop for extended periods of time.
• This position requires work in a warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures, loud noises, and potential hazards.
