Human Resources Generalist
Job Description
Phillips Academy is seeking an experienced HR Generalist who will make an immediate impact as a valued member of the Human Resources team. This role supports a broad range of employment matters and partners across multiple HR functional areas to serve the Academy community.
The HR Generalist partners with managers and employees throughout the employment lifecycle, fostering positive relationships and providing HR support from recruitment through offboarding.
Provides HR Generalist functions for assigned departments managing all aspects of the recruiting process from generating requisitions, ensuring job descriptions and job ads are properly generated, determining compensation and conducting benchmarking when needed, identifying and developing a plan for recruiting for diversity, posting positions, interviewing, extending offers, completing new hire forms, processing and tracking background checks in the appropriate systems ensuring manager compliance with the process. Co-facilitate new employee orientation with other HR Generalists and collaborate to maintain up to date materials.
Provides cross-functional support by serving as backup for fellow HR Generalists during vacations, leaves, and other periods of increased workload. Coordinates planned time off with the HR team to ensure appropriate coverage and continuity of service.
Manages employee leave and accommodation processes, including PFML, FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation, and personal leaves, while providing guidance and support to employees and managers.
Minimum job qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum of five years of experience in Human Resources with a demonstrated history of responsibility in key areas including employee relations, leaves of absences and recruiting
Knowledge of laws and regulations affecting the Human Resources function
Experience working in and recruiting for a diverse community
PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
