Full job description
OMRT is evolving. We are transitioning to a platform-first approach, fostering deep enterprise collaborations that are reshaping the real estate industry. Our Engineering capability is growing, and we are looking for talented Computational Engineers at medior and senior levels to join our team. In this role, you will work at the intersection of architecture, data science, and software engineering to deliver high-impact "Runs" across Urban Physics, Scenario Design, and BIM analysis on a global scale.
What you’ll do
As a Computational Engineer, you'll help turn complex real estate design problems into structured, repeatable parametric scripts.
Your responsibilities include:
Execute High-Impact Delivery - Technical execution of complex design studies, ensuring our outputs are the most sophisticated and accurate in the market.
Engineer Scalable Logic - Design and refine parametric scripts that power our platform, moving beyond one-off scripts to create repeatable, intelligent systems.
Innovate Across Domains - Apply your expertise to diverse challenges, from optimising urban microclimates and physics simulations to complex financial feasibility studies.
Assist Platformdevelopment - Reporting to our software and product teams on issues in integrating computational workflows into the OMRT platform, indirectly influencing our technical roadmap.
Problem Solving - Proactively identify technical hurdles in design automation and aid in engineering creative, robust solutions to overcome them.
Education and experience
A BSc or MSc in Architecture, Urban Design, Computational Design, or Building Technology.
Professional experience of Parametric Design in architecture or Building environments.
A proven track record of delivering professional parametric real estate projects (we value studio/agency experience where you’ve shipped real-world products).
Skills
Computational Design - Proven ability to translate architectural real estate design challenges into computational logic and data-driven workflows.
Parametric Scripting - Demonstrable expertise in Grasshopper and Rhino 3D is a must. Experience with Python or C# is a plus.
Simulation & Analysis - Knowledge of building physics and spatial data analysis. Experience in Ladybug and Honeybee tools is a plus.
Digital Integration – Understanding of how to bridge the gap between parametric design and BIM (Revit/IFC) for seamless project delivery is a plus.
BIM Literacy - Working knowledge of Revit or IFC workflows for integrated deliverables is a plus.
Behaviours
Team-First Collaborator - You thrive in a multi-disciplinary environment, enjoying the process of working "in and with" a team to solve complex, integrated workflows.
Open & Receptive Attitude - You maintain a non-defensive, transparent approach to your work; you actively welcome constructive technical feedback and provide it to others to elevate the team's standard.
Active Knowledge Sharer - You believe in collective growth rather than working in a silo, proactively contributing solved problems, new findings, and script improvements to the company’s knowledge base.
Proactively Communicative - You raise technical blockers and scope ambiguities early and specifically, ensuring that the team and team leads are never surprised by compounding issues.
Methodical & Standard-Oriented - You follow established processes and frameworks with discipline, ensuring your work is reliable, repeatable, and easily understood by your peers.
Precision-oriented - You take immense pride in the quality of your output, rigorously self-validating your work to ensure zero deviations from the team’s quality standards.
Curious & Growth-driven – You are motivated by development goals and stay engaged with the "why" behind parametric tools, always looking for ways to integrate new AI/ML trends into the team's workflow.
Commercially Aware – You understand the value of time and manage your capacity with discipline to support the team’s overall delivery goals.
Language(s)
Fluent English is a must (working language)
Dutch or German is highly advantageous
Perks and benefits
Monthly base salary (excluding 8% holiday pay) between EUR 4,000 and EUR 5,500 depending on skill level, experience and job grade
Full time position (40 hours/week)
Hybrid working scheme, 3 days being in the office
15 days per year to work from abroad
Travel reimbursement for your commute to our Amsterdam office
25 vacation days, with the option to purchase an additional 5 days
Employee wellness support through OpenUp
Free access to asr Vitality
Pension scheme with employer contribution and optional employee contribution
Subsidised lunch at our on-site restaurant, plus unlimited coffee, tea, and snacks
A vibrant office in Rembrandt Park, Amsterdam, with regular company outings and a fail-safe environment for growth
Recruitment process
Screening interview - A 30-minute online introduction with the hiring team to discuss your background, skill set, and initial motivation for the role.
Skill Simulation - A deep dive into your technical expertise, involving a case study assignment using Rhino and Grasshopper. This is followed by a walkthrough with an Engineering Team Lead to assess your approach to parametric thinking and problem-solving.
Final interview - A final conversation to evaluate role alignment, professional goals, and cultural fit within OMRT.
Why join us
Join a growing team of 45 individuals from 17 different nationalities where no two days are the same. At OMRT, you won't just execute; you will become part of a team to develop the systems you work with and operate inside a production model that is genuinely ahead of the industry. We value ownership and encourage risk-taking in a dynamic environment where you can influence our technical strategy and the future of real estate.
OMRT is the AI-native operating system for real estate development.
We combine your teams' expertise with technology that delivers insight early, while decisions are still open. Projects move faster and hold their margin, with sustainability built into the design rather than checked at the end. Complexity becomes something you can work with, not around.
Our commitment is to the housing crisis. The world is urbanising quickly and needs affordable homes at a pace the current process cannot meet. Better, integral design is also how the built environment starts to cut its 40% share of global CO2 emissions, without trading away the quality and variety of architecture that make places worth living in. We give design teams the tools to solve the puzzle rather than simplify it away.
Our mission is to build deep partnerships that grow the technology, and to take what works from one market to the next until the standard is global.
