The Crate Builder is responsible for measuring, cutting, and assembling custom wood crates to protect products during transit. They also assist the packaging team with general shipping tasks and ensure all work adheres to strict safety and quality standards.
Candidates should have 2+ years of experience in packaging or carpentry and be comfortable operating power tools. A strong commitment to safety and the ability to accurately measure and build crates without blueprints are essential.

About the Role
We're looking for a skilled Crate Builder to join our packaging team. Your primary responsibility is building custom wood crates to protect our products in transit. Measuring, cutting, and assembling to spec, using power saws, pneumatic tools, and hand tools. When crate-building volume is lighter, you'll flex into general packaging work alongside the rest of the team to keep production moving.
This role works with power tools daily, so safety isn't a checkbox here, it's the standard everything else is built on. We always expect strict adherence to safety procedures and PPE requirements, and we're looking for someone who treats that as a given, not a suggestion. If your background is primarily packaging rather than carpentry, that's fine, we'll train you on the tools; what matters most is that you take safety seriously from day one.
What You'll Own
Crate construction: Measure the product being shipped and cut wood and other materials to build a crate sized specifically to fit it, this isn't blueprint-driven, so you'll need to size and plan each crate based on the actual dimensions of what's inside; assemble crate components using saws, drills, nail guns, pneumatic staplers, and other power tools; securely fasten crate parts with appropriate hardware.
Product handling & packaging: Load and position products inside crates with proper cushioning and support; secure items using foam, bubble wrap, or bracing as needed; label crates with accurate shipping information.
Quality control: Inspect finished crates for structural integrity, accuracy, and damage before final packaging; catch and report material or construction defects; make adjustments or repairs to maintain crate quality.
Packaging team support: When crate-building demand is lower, work alongside the packaging team on general packaging and shipment-prep tasks to help the team hit production and shipping deadlines.
Safety & compliance: Follow all safety procedures related to power and pneumatic tools and material handling; wear required PPE at all times; adhere to company standards for crate construction and packaging materials; help spot and flag unsafe conditions before they become incidents.
