Ohio Citizen Action (OCA) is the premier grassroots mobilizing and organizing team in the Midwest. Ohio Citizen Action informs, organizes and mobilizes people to advocate for public interests across issues and campaigns. In person, by phone, and online, we engage people in actions that protect public health, improve environmental quality, and benefit consumers. Ohio Citizen Action relies on individual gifts, mostly from phone canvassing. This keeps us accountable to our members. Our campaigns connect Ohioans and build a movement to protect democracy and create a sustainable and equitable future.
Responsibilities
Communicating effectively by phone with OCA members, field prospects and other Ohioans about OCA’s campaigns, mission, events, and opportunities to make change.
Meeting campaign-specific standards including but not limited to the number of people reached, number of completed conversations, number of contributions and number of political actions taken per shift.
On-time attendance for virtual meetings and prompt communication throughout the workday.
Working a minimum of three days per week (15 hours) and adhering to posted calling schedules
Submitting timely and accurate reports for each shift
Taking part in staff meetings & training, campaign briefings, and organizational events.
Willingness to learn in depth about the issues we work on and commitment to being a knowledgeable and effective organizer.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Strong verbal communication skills
Attention to detail
Experience phone-banking or political organizing preferred
Non-profit fundraising a plus
Basic computer skills required (equipment provided), knowledge of Spitfire, VAN, Google Workspace and/or Basecamp a plus
Interest in environmental issues, politics, or non-profit work.( We provide extensive training on the job responsibilities and on the issues we cover.)
