Location: Phillipsburg, NJ

Position Type: Full-Time (32 hours per week) Hours of Operation – Thrift Store: Tuesday through Friday – 10:00am to 4:00pm The incumbent will routinely work some hours outside of this time frame, up to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Any hours worked over 40 will be compensated at the overtime rate.

Pay Range: $20.00-$22.00/hour depending on experience and qualifications

About Us: Join our mission-driven team at the Norwescap Thrift Shop, a community-oriented thrift store where all sales revenue supports the Norwescap Food Bank. We offer a fun, boutique-like shopping experience while making a wide variety items available at great prices.

Job Summary: We are seeking a Thrift Shop Manager to oversee all aspects of store operations, including sales, volunteer recruitment, inventory management, customer service, and community engagement. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, retail management experience, and a passion for community service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily store operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness, including opening, closing, arranging stock, taking deliveries, and managing customer sales. Must be able to lift twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance.
  • Manage deposits and monitor sales revenue and store budget
  • Manage inventory levels, including receiving, sorting, pricing, and displaying merchandise
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers
  • Develop creative sales strategies, manage promotions, and plan community events
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, donors, and partners
  • In conjunction with Marketing Department, develop and implement social media strategies to increase store visibility, engage with the community, and promote events and sales.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in retail management required, preferably in a thrift store or similar environment
  • Experience in point of sale systems preferred
  • Must have access to personal, independent transportation
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
  • Marketing and social media experience a plus
