Manage the Specialty Engineering Department by deploying resources to programs and overseeing disciplines such as reliability, safety, and materials processes. Responsible for organizational strategy, mentoring staff, and providing direct program support for space and ground systems.
Requires a STEM Bachelor's degree, 8+ years of related experience, and an active DoD Secret clearance. Must have 3 years of project leadership experience and proficiency in at least one specialty engineering discipline.
Western Region Systems Engineering is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager 2 to join our team of qualified individuals in Azusa, CA. The candidate will be responsible for the functional management of our Specialty Engineering Department, comprised of 15 individuals supporting reliability, safety, contamination, radiation hardness & survivability, parts, materials, & processes (PM&P), and electromagnetic interference/susceptibility (EMI/C) engineering in support of space and ground systems. The selected candidate will be responsible for deployment of resources to programs; maintaining department processes; fostering interfaces with external entities; developing and implementing organizational strategy; and the mentoring, performance evaluation, and career development of department members. The position requires approximately 85% direct program support and 15% for functional management.
The successful applicant will require a technical understanding and experience in one or more of the Specialty Engineering disciplines. The candidate should have project management experience in a team environment, including budget management. Candidate will interface with multiple disciplines including program management, electrical/mechanical/systems engineering, procurement, supplier management, integration & test, and manufacturing. Direct assignments may include one or more of the following: PM&P including qualification and PM&P board leadership; reliability test regimen design and implementation; contamination analysis and implementation; radiation hardness & survivability; product design and/or product design team leadership; systems design and/or systems engineering team leadership; supplier management.
