Full job description

Description

School-Based & Outpatient Mental Health Professional (Licensed Therapist or Clinical Trainee)

Location: Grand Rapids Middle School & Outpatient Clinic – Grand Rapids, MN

Make a Difference Across Two Care Settings

Join our team as a School-Based & Outpatient Mental Health Professional and make a lasting impact on the lives of children, adolescents, and families. We are seeking either a Fully Licensed Mental Health Professional (LICSW, LMFT, LPCC, LP) or a Clinical Trainee working toward independent licensure to provide behavioral health services in two integrated settings.

This position offers approximately 50% of time providing school-based mental health services at Grand Rapids Middle School and 50% providing outpatient therapy in our clinic. The combination allows clinicians to build meaningful relationships with students during the school day while also providing ongoing outpatient services to children, adolescents, adults, and families in a traditional clinical setting.

You'll be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team committed to providing accessible, high-quality mental health care where individuals need it most.

Why Join Our Team?

  • Competitive salary based on licensure and experience
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, life insurance, and supplemental benefits
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays
  • Clinical supervision provided for qualified trainees
  • Continuing education and professional development opportunities
  • Licensure reimbursement and CEU support
  • Eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)
  • Collaborative, mission-driven team culture
  • Opportunity to develop skills in both school-based and outpatient behavioral health
  • Diverse clinical experience with children, adolescents, adults, and families

Position Summary

The School-Based & Outpatient Mental Health Professional provides behavioral health services in both educational and outpatient settings.

Approximately half of the position involves delivering therapeutic services within Grand Rapids Middle School, collaborating with educators and families to support students' emotional, behavioral, and academic success. The remaining time is spent providing outpatient mental health services to individuals and families through assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and psychotherapy.

This unique role allows clinicians to provide continuity of care while gaining experience across multiple levels of behavioral health treatment.

Essential Responsibilities

School-Based Services (Approximately 50%)

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy to students receiving school-based services.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, school administration, case managers, and families.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and school team meetings.
  • Complete assessments, treatment plans, and required clinical documentation.
  • Provide crisis assessment and intervention as needed.
  • Support students in developing emotional regulation, coping, social, and behavioral skills.

Outpatient Services (Approximately 50%)

  • Provide outpatient psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and      families, based on clinician experience and licensure.
  • Complete comprehensive assessments and establish individualized treatment plans.
  • Maintain ongoing therapeutic relationships through scheduled outpatient appointments.
  • Coordinate care with medical providers, schools, community agencies, and family members as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

General Responsibilities

  • Utilize trauma-informed, culturally responsive, evidence-based therapeutic practices.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, consultation, and ongoing professional development.
  • Maintain compliance with agency, state, licensing, and payer requirements.
  • Promote a collaborative, client-centered approach to care.

Requirements

Licensed Mental Health Professional

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Current Minnesota licensure as LICSW, LMFT, LPCC, or LP in good standing.

Clinical Trainee

  • Master's degree in a qualifying mental health field.
  • Meets Minnesota requirements to practice as a Clinical Trainee under approved supervision.
  • Commitment to obtaining independent licensure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with children and adolescents.
  • Experience in school-based services, children's therapeutic services, or day treatment programs.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, behavioral interventions, and family systems.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking clinicians who are:

  • Passionate about helping children and families succeed.
  • Skilled at building strong therapeutic relationships.
  • Collaborative team members who enjoy partnering with educators and families.
  • Committed to providing ethical, compassionate, and culturally responsive care.
  • Flexible, organized, and dedicated to clinical excellence.
