Position: Program Associate

Hours of Employment: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM Monday-Thursday 

7:30 AM – 4:00 PM Fridays (non-school days) 

(Occasional weekday evenings and weekends will be required) 

Work Location: In-Person 

Salary Range: $20.00-$24.00/hour | based on experience and qualifications 

Immediate Supervisor: Program Manager  

Employment Type: Full-time, non-exempt 

Position Overview: Responsible for fulfilling the community school model, with a primary focus on the implementation of all student-based programming. Work directly with youth to support their social, emotional, cognitive, and academic development. Implement and strive for excellence of strong program facilitation, while also helping students develop their personalities and life skills. 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Implement in-school and after-school programs, projects, and events 
• Tutor and/or mentor students
• Serve as an effective facilitator in small and large group settings
• Create and maintain safe, respectful and encouraging learning environments
• Ensure appropriate materials and supplies are available for all programs
• Actively participate in team and organizational debriefs
• Thoughtfully complete feedback and observation notes 
• Assist in collecting, checking, and analyzing related data, as directed
• Greet, steward and purposefully deploy volunteers and partners
• Engage professionally with school staff, partners, volunteers, families, and other stakeholders
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of company spaces and school-based learning environments 

• Work with senior leaders to coordinate and/or manage programs, projects and events, as directed
• Work with Community School Initiatives team to support activities and initiatives as assigned
• Provide administrative support for NCCP in-school and after school programs, projects and events

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
• Previous experience working with children
• Maintain a valid driver’s license
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with diverse groups in a high-energy work environment
• Moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to remain in a stationary or mobile position, as the shift demands 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Two-year or four-year college degree 
• Bilingual Spanish/English skills 
• Previous experience working with children in an academically-focused environment
• Previous experience in classroom management and demonstrated instructional expertise  
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and administrative skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office

Expectations of all Employees:  

• Must have reliable transportation and be willing to use a personal vehicle to transport program/event materials between sites as needed.
• Work in collaboration with the broader organization to facilitate school, community, and volunteer programs and events (NOTE: Must be able to remain in a stationary or mobile position, as the shift demands, and move equipment/supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.) 
• Develop and nurture appropriate relationships with all stakeholders 
• Maintain NCCP standards of professionalism  
• Actively participate in all trainings and workshops
