Mechanical Services & Design (MSD) is looking for an experienced plumbing and piping professional to lead our Plumbing VDC and Prefabrication Department. This is a unique opportunity for someone with a strong field background who wants to influence projects before construction begins. We're looking for a leader who understands how plumbing and piping systems are installed, can identify constructability challenges before they become field issues, and enjoys mentoring others while leveraging today's leading construction technology. Whether you've spent your career as a Foreman, General Foreman, Superintendent, or already lead a VDC or BIM team, you'll play a critical role in improving project delivery, expanding our prefabrication capabilities, and helping drive innovation across our organization.
What You'll Do
As the Plumbing VDC & Prefabrication Manager, you'll lead the daily operations of both our Plumbing VDC and Prefabrication Departments. You'll coordinate closely with Project Managers, Foremen, Fabrication, and Operations to ensure projects are designed, coordinated, fabricated, and installed efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and constructability.
Job Duties
Lead, coach, and develop the Plumbing VDC and Prefabrication teams.
Produce detailed plumbing and piping models using Revit and develop fabrication spools utilizing Stratus.
Create accurate MEP drawings from construction documents, specifications, and design intent.
Interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to support fabrication and installation.
Coordinate with Project Managers, Foremen, and field personnel to ensure models accurately reflect field conditions.
Oversee plumbing and piping prefabrication activities from design through fabrication and installation.
Develop production schedules, fabrication workflows, and project priorities to maximize efficiency.
Coordinate material, labor, and fabrication requirements for multiple projects.
Monitor fabrication workflow, quality control, and production metrics while implementing continuous improvements.
Review project documentation to determine material quantities, labor requirements, and fabrication sequencing.
Support estimating and project teams by providing constructability reviews and fabrication solutions.
Conduct job site visits to verify field conditions and resolve coordination issues.
Maintain current knowledge of plumbing codes, fabrication standards, and BIM technology.
Complete required documentation including purchase orders, bill of lading verification, invoice approvals, production reports, and fabrication records.
Promote a culture centered around safety, accountability, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who understands the trade first and technology second. The ideal candidate has built successful plumbing or piping projects in the field, has experience leading crews, and is excited about using technology to improve project outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS AND GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 5 years of experience leading commercial plumbing and/or piping work as a Foreman, General Foreman, Superintendent, or similar leadership role.
High School Diploma or GED or 15 semester (22 quarter) hours college level education
• Strong understanding of commercial plumbing and piping installation methods and fabrication processes.
• Experience interpreting blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
• Proficiency with Revit, Stratus, Navisworks, or similar software is preferred.
• Working knowledge of HVAC piping systems and plumbing codes.
• Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead teams while managing multiple priorities.
• Ability to identify constructability issues and develop practical field solutions.
• Experience working collaboratively with field operations, project management, and fabrication teams.
• Journeyman Plumbing License is preferred but not required.
Able to clearly communicate in written and verbal English
