Role Overview
The Bank Teller is the primary point of contact for customers, providing excellent service in all phases of the transaction process. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth daily operation of the branch and upholding the bank's commitment to exceptional customer service and financial integrity. You will manage customer transactions, handle sensitive financial information, and operate with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism. This position requires an individual with exceptional attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Essential Duties
Process a high volume of routine bank transactions for customers, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments, and cashing checks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with bank procedures.
Provide high-quality customer support, identifying customer needs and recommending appropriate bank products and services.
Maintain and balance a cash drawer on a daily basis, promptly reporting any discrepancies.
Embody and uphold the bank's core values, consistently conducting yourself with the highest level of professional and ethical standards in all interactions and responsibilities.
Adhere to all bank policies, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering).
Serve as a system expert for transactional processing software, providing guidance and support to customers on self-service banking options.
Manage customer inquiries and resolve service-related issues, escalating complex problems to the appropriate supervisor.
Maintain the confidentiality of all customer financial information.
Participate in required compliance training throughout the year as needed.
Regular, reliable and predictable onsite attendance is an essential function of this role.

Experience & Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Minimum of 6 months of cash handling experience is required.
Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience is preferred.
QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Strong understanding of basic mathematics, cash handling, and balancing procedures.
Must be proficient in basic computer applications and have a strong ability to learn and navigate new banking software systems quickly.
Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a high-transaction environment.
Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain positive, professional relationships with diverse customers and staff.
The ability to use independent judgment and initiative to resolve complex customer service issues efficiently.
Physical & Mental Requirements
This is a primarily sedentary position, involving prolonged periods of standing at the teller line and working on a computer. The role also requires the ability to walk, stand, and move about the branch, which may include lifting and carrying objects up to 10 pounds. The role requires a high level of mental fortitude to handle a diverse range of responsibilities, process multiple transactions simultaneously, and maintain composure while under pressure. Must be able to adapt to changing priorities and operate with a high degree of independence.
