Full job description
Data Migration Analyst
Position Overview
As a Data Migration Analyst – Finance & ERP Systems, you'll play a critical role in Modigent’s Horizons Program, our multi-OpCo ERP transformation initiative. You will own the accounting accuracy and financial integrity of data migration workstreams as we deploy Procore, Sage Intacct, and BuildOps across acquired operating companies. This role serves as the essential bridge between legacy source ERP systems and our target platforms, ensuring clean, validated, and audit-ready data loads. Ideal for someone with deep construction accounting or job-cost experience who has personally executed ERP data migrations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and execute data migration activities for finance and accounting modules, ensuring accuracy and completeness during the transition to Sage Intacct, Procore, and BuildOps.
Perform detailed data mapping, transformation, extraction, and validation between source systems and target ERP platforms.
Review and reconcile trial balances, sub-ledgers, and financial data from legacy systems to ensure integrity in the new environment.
Validate migrated data against source system reports, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues related to job costing, WIP, revenue recognition, over/under billings, retainage, change orders, and other construction accounting elements.
Collaborate closely with finance, operations, shared services, and implementation partners to define migration requirements, sequencing, and cutover plans.
Develop and maintain advanced Excel workbooks, reconciliation templates, and validation tools to support migration accuracy.
Document migration processes, mapping rules, transformation logic, and issue resolution for audit and knowledge transfer purposes.
Support month-end close readiness and post-migration financial reporting validation.
Contribute to continuous improvement of migration methodologies, templates, and controls to support scalable rollouts across multiple operating companies.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None (individual contributor role with significant cross-functional collaboration; may provide functional guidance to junior analysts or data resources as needed).
Requirements/Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of accounting or financial operations experience, with at least 4+ years of hands-on ERP data migration execution (not just project management). Strong construction accounting or job-cost accounting background is highly preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field required.
Physical Demands: Primarily office-based with occasional travel for project meetings or go-live support; standard office mobility.
Work Environment/Safety: Professional office setting with hybrid options; adherence to corporate safety standards.
Required Skills
Deep knowledge of construction accounting concepts (job costing, WIP, Schedule of Values, AIA billing, over/under billing, retainage, change order accounting, revenue recognition).
Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct (or similar ERP) including sub-ledger management, journal entries, and GL reconciliation.
Ability to read, interpret, and reconcile trial balances independently.
Experience with source systems such as Sage 100, Sage 50, QuickBooks Desktop, Microsoft Dynamics GP, or eCMS.
Understanding of data migration sequencing and transformation logic.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with finance, operations, and implementation teams.
