Overview:
The Product Development Engineer – Level 2 independently designs and develops hydraulic actuator products from concept through production. This role owns product designs, manages technical aspects of customer-driven projects, and plays a key role in maintaining and improving existing product lines. The engineer works directly with sales, customers, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of new hydraulic actuator products using FEA, DFMEA and project management tools
Own 3D CAD models, drawings, and technical documentation for assigned projects
Maintain and optimize existing product lines for performance, cost, and manufacturability
Create, maintain, and audit BOMs and pricing in the ERP system
Lead engineering change activities and documentation
Work directly with sales and customers to develop technical solutions and quotations
Diagnose and resolve customer-related product issues using structured problem-solving methods
Manage large engineering projects including scope, schedule, training and open issues lists
Lead test lab projects, develop SOW, documentation, fixture design, test setup, perform testing
Coordinate with sales, manufacturing, quality, and procurement to ensure smooth product launches
Mentor Level 1 engineers and provide technical guidance
Travel as necessary (<10%)
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, related field or equivalent experience
4–10 years of product development experience, preferably in hydraulic or fluid power systems
Strong proficiency in 3D CAD and GD&T (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
Experience with BOM management in an ERP system
Strong communication and project management skills
