The Controller will lead accounting and financial operations, including month-end closes, financial reporting, and revenue recognition under IFRS 15. They will also provide analytical support to business leaders, manage finance teams, and ensure robust internal controls.
Candidates must hold an accounting designation, such as a CPA, and possess 3-5 years of relevant finance experience. Proficiency in Excel and a strong understanding of IFRS accounting principles are required for this role.
As Controller, you will be the accounting and financial lead at Medaptus Solutions Inc, initially reporting directly to the General Manager of the Business Unit and eventually to the Director, Finance. The Controller’s responsibilities will include month and quarter end close processes, detailed review and analysis of the business’ financial and management reporting, ensuring compliance to corporate standards and processes, budgeting and financial planning, and financial operations such as invoicing and AR/AP .
The perfect candidate will have a solid grounding in accounting, finance and general business concepts, with superior analytical skills, a strong work ethic and great interpersonal skill
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Review complex revenue recognition for software contracts which are accounted for under IFRS 15, including regular review of WIP schedules
Review account reconciliations, analyze results, and prepare reporting to senior management on a monthly and quarterly basis
Assist the business and operational leaders with monthly forecasting
Become a business partner by providing support and analysis to the business and operational leaders
Manage, coach and mentor a team of finance professionals
Ensure internal controls are in place and identify potential risks and controls to mitigate them
Identify, improve, and standardize finance processes
Prepare audit requests and respond to queries during reviews and the interim and year-end audit
Special projects and ad hoc reports (ex: due diligence and integration of new acquisitions)
Accounting designation (CPA preferred)
3-5 years finance and accounting experience, with experience in a technology-based environment being an asset.
Advanced knowledge of Excel is required, as are excellent analytical and communication skills.
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices and applications under IFRS.
Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, Great Plains and BPC consolidation software is an asset
