Acts as an assistant to the surgeon during operative and invasive dermatology procedures, handling tasks such as retracting, cauterizing, and suturing. Provides direct and indirect patient care while maintaining regulatory standards and communicating clinical conditions to the medical team.
Requires graduation from a surgical technologist or first assistant program with at least one year of experience as a scrub tech or first assistant. BLS certification is required, and CST certification is preferred.

Under the direction of the surgeon, performs responsibilities that will include patient positioning, tissue handling, retracting, bleeding control including vessel clamping, cauterizing and tying, stapling, suturing and dressing application. Team member who provides direct and indirect patient care when caring for patients in the clinic setting. Provides care that meets the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs of patient and family; provides care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations, under the supervision of a physician. Maintains regulatory requirements, policies, procedures and standards. Communicates with physicians and team members about patient's clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
