The Trauma Registrar is responsible for accurate data abstraction, injury coding, and analysis of medical records into the Trauma Registry and TQIP database. They generate reports for research, epidemiology, and performance improvement activities to support the Trauma Center.
Requires an associate degree or 5+ years of experience as a Trauma Registrar. Mandatory certifications include the ATS or WV State Trauma Registrar Course, AAAM AIS Coding Course, and CSRT certification within specified timeframes.

The incumbent assumes primary responsibility for accurate and concurrent data abstraction, evaluation, injury coding and analysis of trauma medical records into the Trauma Registry and Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) database. Demonstrates competency to independently perform tasks, to generate reports from the Trauma Registry for injury research, epidemiology, peer review and performance improvement activities within the Cabell Huntington Hospital Trauma Center. Provides assistance to the Director of Trauma Services and the Trauma Medical Director.
