POSITION DESCRIPTION, MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS AND HIRING PROFILE
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Septic System Installation Project Manager oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of residential and commercial septic system installation projects. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with all state and local regulations. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for clients, field crews, subcontractors, inspectors, and internal leadership.
Project Planning & Coordination
Review site plans, soil reports, permits, and engineering specifications to determine project scope and requirements.
Develop project schedules, resource plans, and installation timelines.
Coordinate with designers, engineers, and permitting authorities to ensure compliance with state and local codes.
Order materials, equipment, and supplies needed for each installation.
Field Management
Oversee daily field operations for septic system installations, including excavation, tank placement, drain field construction, and system testing.
Conduct on‑site inspections to ensure work meets quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Troubleshoot field issues and adjust plans as needed to maintain project progress.
Ensure proper documentation of installation steps, inspections, and system components.
Client & Stakeholder Communication
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide updates on project status, timelines, and any changes in scope.
Coordinate with inspectors, environmental health departments, and utility companies as required.
Budget & Compliance
Track project costs, labor hours, and material usage to maintain budget accuracy.
Approve invoices, change orders, and subcontractor payments.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and septic system installation codes.
Team Leadership
Assign tasks to field crews and subcontractors.
Train team members on installation procedures, safety practices, and equipment use.
Conduct performance evaluations and support continuous improvement.
3–5 years of experience in septic system installation, civil construction, excavation, or related field.
Proven project management experience, including scheduling, budgeting, and team coordination.
Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.
Installer certification (preferred)
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. (preferred)
Experience operating heavy equipment (excavators, skid steers, trenchers) (preferred)
Strong knowledge of septic system components, soil science basics, and installation methods.
Familiarity with state and local health department regulations governing onsite wastewater systems.
Ability to read blueprints, site plans, and engineering drawings.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physical tasks related to field inspections.
Regular travel to job sites within the service area.
Occasional extended hours based on project needs.
