Prepare and serve light lunchtime meals and manage donated food items. Maintain kitchen inventory and ensure the workstation is cleaned and restored daily.

Requirements

Requires a High School Diploma or GED and 1-2 years of food service experience. Must possess or be able to obtain Westchester County's Food Service Certification.

Full job description

Hours: 10:00am to 2:00pm

Days: Monday through Friday

Requirements:

  • Prepare and serve light lunchtime meal of sandwiches and salad daily.
  • When available, heat, plate and serve donated already prepared food items for the lunchtime meal.
  • Receive and inspect all donated food items for expiration dates or spoilage and remove from inventory as needed.
  • Maintain a list of inventory items needed and report any shortages to the Deputy Director for replenishment.
  • Clean and restore workstation and kitchen prior to leaving daily.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must possess a minimum of 1-2 years of food service or industrial kitchen experience.
  • Must possess or be able to complete Westchester County's Food Service Certification course.
  • Communicate in a polite and professional manner with all guests, volunteers, and fellow staff members.
  • Exceptional time management skills and the ability to work independently in an often fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to remain flexible and adaptive to changing circumstances as it pertains to ingredient availability.
  • Compassion, patience and kindness are necessary to succeed in this position.
