The Lab Technician supports instructors by maintaining a safe and organized learning environment in classroom and laboratory settings. Key duties include overseeing equipment, enforcing safety protocols, and guiding students in trade-related techniques and projects.
Requires a high school diploma or GED and at least four years of field experience in a trade or a trade certificate. Candidates must demonstrate experience in both residential and commercial work and be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Lab Tech has no formal supervisory role and is tasked with maintaining a safe environment in the classroom and lab.
High school Diploma or GED is required. The Technical Studies Lab Tech must have a minimum of four years of field experience in their given trade or a certificate in the trade. The applicant's resume should demonstrate this experience and should reflect both residential and commercial work. It is preferred that the Lab Tech holds a degree and/or licenses or certificates related to their field, and any combination thereof.
This position will require the employee to work in a setting similar to fieldwork. This can include working in uncontrolled climates, loud work areas, and hazardous conditions.
If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position.
Compensation is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, along with University needs and external market conditions. Market benchmarks may be used, as appropriate, in combination with internal equity to ensure pay is fair and aligned with the broader compensation structure.
The position may also be eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and tuition assistance.
