We are currently seeking an Oracle Database Administrator to join the Compartmented Enterprise Services Office (CESO) effort. This program is establishing a modern secure web service (SWS) operation as part of a state-of-the-art, highly automated platform capable of supporting a rapidly expanding customer population. The Oracle Database Administrator will join a high-impact program, focused on designing, building, delivering, and supporting highly available, scalable, real-time data persistence for mission-critical applications. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing database schemas and structures according to project requirements. This person should be a seasoned, self-motivated, professional with at least 5 years of hands-on database admin experience.
This position is 100% on-site based in Arlington, VA.
Primary Responsibilities
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and support ability and effectiveness analysis.
Designs and implements database schemas and structures according to project requirements.
Perform daily database administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of system database and replication issues.
Monitor database performance and memory allocations using standard tools.
Develops and maintains documentation for database environments, including data standards and procedures.
Develop and execute SQL queries for routine and ad hoc requests.
Modify existing database scripts to enhance systems support and create new database scripts for recurring database issues.
Implements security measures, sets up user permissions, and ensures compliance with data protection policies.
Translate requirements and data into usable database schemas by creating or recreating ad hoc queries, scripts and macros, making updates to existing queries, and creating new queries to manipulate data into a master file.
Plans for storage requirements and database growth, and scale infrastructure as needed.
Maintains data accuracy and ensures maximum uptime and may require some on-call support.
Troubleshoot and resolve database problems.
Collaborates with developers to optimize queries, stored procedures, and database design for applications.
Must be a self-starter, strong leader, and the ability to work independently with little supervision.
Basic Qualifications
Candidate must possess an active DOD TS/SCI. May be asked to obtain CI Poly.
Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least eight (8) years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be substituted for a degree.
Must have at least five (5) years of demonstrated experience as a database administrator.
Must have at least five (5) years of Oracle Database Administration experience, specifically with Oracle 12c, 19c, or later.
Must have in-depth experience implementing and maintaining database security.
Must have in-depth experience conducting database performance tuning and monitoring.
Must have in-depth experience troubleshooting and resolving database problems/issues.
Must have experience with procedural languages such as PL/SQL and proficiency in PL/SQL development and optimization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated experience communicating effectively across internal and external organizations
Preferred prior experience with DISA and DISA’s support to mission partners
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with real time highly available data replication technologies such as Oracle Data Guard (configuration, monitoring, failover/switchover).
Experience with SQL tuning and diagnostic skills including performance tuning (AWR ADDM).
Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology and/or as a member of an Agile team.
Experience with database design and development.
Extensive, in-depth understanding of databases, primarily Oracle and/or other relational and non-relational/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL.
Experience using Oracle SQL/PLSQL, and SQL in general.
