The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for maintaining a safe and functional physical environment by performing repairs, conducting daily inspections, and ensuring facility compliance with safety regulations. They also assist with emergency preparedness, move residents as needed, and maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities.
A high school diploma is preferred, along with experience in a long-term care setting and knowledge of facility systems like electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. Candidates must be able to work safely and adhere to all facility policies, including HIPAA and emergency protocols.

SUMMARY
The purpose of the Maintenance Assistant position is assist the Maintenance Supervisor is maintaining a safe and functional physical environment for residents and facility staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following represents the essential functions of the Maintenance Helper's role. This list is intended to be a general description of duties and responsibilities; however, it is subject to change according to the needs of the facility determined by the Administrator and/or Corporate Designee.
QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE/ REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications
o Freedom from illegal use of drugs.
o Freedom from use and effects of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
o Anyone found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in the position.
Education and/or Experience
o High School Diploma preferred.
o Experience in Long-Term care setting preferred, but not required.
o Maintenance experience preferred as well as working knowledge of maintenance terminology/ facility systems- PTACs, central AC units, generators, fire panels, sprinkler systems, electrical, plumbing, etc.
