As a Mechanical Test Engineer, you will design and implement testing methods for product development and manufacturing, focusing on improving quality and reducing cycle time. You will lead the development and execution of tests, analyze results, and create technical documentation.
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 5+ years of experience or a Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience. Strong communication skills, proficiency in 3D CAD tools, and hands-on testing experience are essential.

As a Mechanical Test Engineer at Lam, you'll design and implement efficient testing methods for product development and manufacturing, improving quality and reducing cycle time. You'll perform diagnostic tests, design test features and equipment, and create detailed specifications for new products. Your strategic planning of labor, schedules, and equipment ensures effective testing operations. Join us in shaping the future of precision and reliability at Lam.
• Lead development and execution of tests for substrate holders and related handling and automation hardware, validating mechanical performance, stability, durability, and operating limits
• Build, operate, and improve prototype test stands, fixtures, and test methods used to evaluate precision mechanical systems, while supporting other mechanical test stands as needed
• Partner closely with automation, substrate handling, and design engineers to assess concepts, troubleshoot issues, and provide data-driven recommendations that reduce technical risk
• Execute verification and characterization testing, analyze results, and investigate failure modes using structured problem-solving methods and sound engineering judgment
• Select and apply appropriate instrumentation, measurement methods, and data acquisition tools to ensure accurate, repeatable, and efficient testing
• Create clear technical documentation including test plans, procedures, reports, and design review materials, and communicate findings effectively to cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
This position is subject to the Austrian Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for Employees in the Metal Technology Industry in occupation group F, depending on your educational background. A higher payment is negotiable depending on expertise and skills.
