Night Maintenance Supervisor
Position Summary
Kumho Tire Georgia (KTG) is seeking an experienced Night Maintenance Supervisor to lead and oversee maintenance operations during assigned overnight shifts within our manufacturing facility. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for supervising a team of maintenance technicians, coordinating preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring the reliability of critical production machinery.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing operations, electrical systems, mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, and PLC troubleshooting. This position plays a key role in maximizing equipment uptime, improving operational efficiency, reducing downtime, and supporting safe, continuous production operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians and skilled trades personnel.
Assign work orders, prioritize maintenance activities, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
Monitor employee performance, provide feedback, and implement performance improvement plans when necessary.
Foster teamwork, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Maintenance Operations
Plan, organize, schedule, and supervise maintenance activities during assigned shifts.
Coordinate maintenance work with Production, Engineering, Quality, and other departments to support manufacturing goals.
Oversee and support preventive maintenance (PM), predictive maintenance (PdM), corrective maintenance, and emergency repairs.
Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation-related equipment issues.
Ensure equipment, machinery, and facility systems operate safely and efficiently.
Reliability & Continuous Improvement
Analyze equipment performance, downtime trends, and maintenance metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
Recommend equipment upgrades, process improvements, and reliability initiatives to increase productivity and reduce maintenance costs.
Support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation for recurring equipment failures.
Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on equipment reliability and operational excellence.
Safety & Compliance
Conduct safety audits, inspections, and regular safety meetings.
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and maintenance best practices.
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure safe work practices are consistently followed.
Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives throughout the facility.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, equipment history, inventory levels, and spare parts usage.
Generate reports related to equipment reliability, downtime, maintenance performance, and labor utilization.
Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office applications to track maintenance activities.
Emergency Response
Serve as the primary point of contact for maintenance-related emergencies during assigned shifts.
Coordinate rapid response efforts to minimize production interruptions and equipment downtime.
Participate in on-call support and facility shutdown maintenance activities as required.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
Associate degree, Technical Degree, or equivalent combination of education and industrial maintenance experience will be considered.
Experience
Proven maintenance leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
Tire manufacturing, automotive manufacturing, heavy industrial, or continuous process manufacturing experience preferred.
Experience leading maintenance technicians, electricians, mechanics, and skilled trades personnel.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of:
Industrial electrical systems
Mechanical systems
Hydraulic systems
Pneumatic systems
Industrial automation and controls
Preventive and predictive maintenance programs
Equipment troubleshooting and repair
Experience with PLC systems, including:
Allen-Bradley PLCs
Mitsubishi PLCs
DC Drives
Motor controls and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
Ability to read and interpret:
Electrical schematics
Mechanical drawings
Blueprints
Technical manuals
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
Leadership Competencies
Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively across departments and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, employee development, and continuous improvement.
Additional Requirements
Ability to work night shifts and flexible schedules as needed.
Availability to work during planned maintenance shutdowns and respond to on-call situations.
Must maintain regular attendance and consistently meet performance expectations.
